The She Builds series continues with Michelle Serna, whose story is a powerful reminder that some of the most meaningful careers are not found—they are built.
Hosted by Kate Coffey-Bacon, this live session will begin with Michelle revisiting her original TED-style talk, sharing how she identified gaps, stepped into them, and ultimately created multiple roles that didn’t previously exist. From recovering millions in lost revenue early in her career to shaping strategy and innovation at the executive level, Michelle’s journey is about seeing opportunity where others see “not my job.”
Her story challenges the idea that leadership is tied to title—and instead reframes it as action, initiative, and the willingness to build what’s missing.
Then we open the conversation to the community.
This is a space to talk about what it looks like to lead before you’re asked, how to advocate for your ideas, and how to step into impact without waiting for permission. Attendees are encouraged to come ready to share what they are seeing and feeling in their own roles, teams, and organizations.
This session is designed to be energizing, practical, and full of real conversation. You’ll leave with a fresh perspective on leadership and the confidence to take action where it matters.
15 minutes: Michelle retells her She Builds story
30 minutes: Guided discussion 15 minutes: Open Q&A and community conversation
15 minutes: Announcements for whats next with “She Builds” and open networking conversation
This session is for anyone who sees opportunities for improvement and wants to take action.
Professionals who notice gaps, inefficiencies, or missed opportunities and want to do something about them
Emerging and established leaders who want to step into greater impact without waiting for a title
Anyone looking to build confidence in advocating for ideas and driving change
Individuals who feel ready for more but are unsure how to create that next opportunity
Those interested in innovation, leadership, and building something new within their organization
If you’ve ever thought, “There’s a better way to do this,” this conversation will resonate.
Come for the story.
Stay for the conversation.
